It is always a grateful experience to be able to make a positive difference in the lives of people.

Complete Heart Block(CHB) is a life threatening condition where the Heart rate (speed at which Heart beats) is very slow and the chambers of the heart have lost their synchrony with each other.

This is a life threatening condition, where the Heart can go into a stand-still or asystole and patient can potentially die, if not treated quickly.

At Agra Heart Center, We always try to find out the basic underlying cause, while treating the condition. If the patient is symptomatic, which is most often the case, temporary pacemaker is a good solution, while trying to determine the cause in the meanwhile.

Temporary Pacemaker is implanted through various routes, the most common being the right femoral vein access. However, if access is difficult or bedside TPI has to be done in emergent collapse, the expert cardiologists at Agra Heart Center are well versed to implant temporary pacemaker via the jugular or the subclavian route.

TPI is usually done in the cath lab setting, where the TPI lead goes through the Inferior vena cava-> Right atrium-> Tricuspid Valve-> Right Ventricle.

After that, the externalized lead is fixed and sutured and plasted so that it does not move.

However, as a precautionary measure, patient is asked not to move the right leg till the TPI is in situ.

Temporary pacing lead is a temporary fix, that buys time to look for the underlying cause like hyperkalemia, kidney disease, blockages etc. And to correct it.

TPI Lead is usually kept for atleast 48 hours before removing if the underlying cause has been corrected and the rate and rhythm of the heart have returned back to normal. I

If the problem has not been solved, then patient may require a permanent pacemaker implantation- which is one of the Forte of the best cardiologists of Agra- Dr. Rajat Rawat and Dr. C. R. Rawat.
